Adjustable Pendant Lighting

Lamps Plus Tip: Installing pendant lights is a task for the moderately handy person who has experience with electricity. If you're not such a person, hire a licensed electrician to do the job. One choice you'll need to make is whether to install a new junction box for each pendant light or find a way to camouflage the cord on its path to an outlet. Some hanging pendant lights are designed to sit at the end of a wire or thin stalk, with the cord floating freely. Others use a "stem" -- a tube that contains the cord on its way down. This can be purchased in many different colors to harmonize with your decor. Under no circumstances should the light hang only by its cord. This is unstable and possibly dangerous. Another option for pendant lighting is to use a track to hang the lights along a line.
