Lamps Plus Tip: When a floor lampshade or any other type of lampshade needs replacing, your first instinct may be to get the same kind you just had. Instead, why not take this opportunity to take a fresh look at your lamp as a part of the room it lights? Most lamps will look great with any of several different shades. There's no rule that says the replacement lamp shade has to be the same style. A new shade can dress a room up or down, add a splash of color or blend into the woodwork. To be sure you're getting the right size shade -- particularly when shopping online -- get the following measurements: Top of the shade, bottom of the shade, height of the shade and the length along the slanted side (if it has a slant).
