Lamps Plus Tip: Whether you're arranging security exterior lighting for a home or business, be sure to arrange the lights so that they are too high up to be reached by vandals seeking to tamper with the system. Experts recommend a minimum height of nine feet. Align the lights so that they illuminate points of entry (sliding glass doors are particularly vulnerable) without casting glare into neighboring buildings. If you use motion detectors on your exterior lighting on the walls, set them so that they can "see" up to 40 feet away from the building, but so that they cannot be tripped by animals and birds.
